Plastic Optical Fiber & Glass Optical Fiber

Plastic Optical Fiber Glass Optical Fiber
 Its principle is similar to flass optical fiber but core is high purity PMMA(Poly methyl methacrylate) and clad is high purity F-PMMA (Fluorinated Pmma)  It consists of a 3-layer structure, core with higher refractive index, clad with lower refractive index, and optical fiber lighting uses the principle receiving light at one end and conveys light to the other end of optical fiber through total internal reflection in core and clad.
 Light receiving angle is large therefore it can accept a lot of incident light. It is easy to connect because diameter of optical fiber is big (0.25~3.0mm) It has excellent bending resistance, and is strong against bending shock. It is easy to process cut face. It is light and its price is low. It is good for general lighting (Scenery lighting, constrction lighting, underwater lighting, etc.)  Light receiving angle is large therefore it can accept a lot of incident light. The diameter of optical fiber is small (50 ㎛) It has an excellent bending resistance, and it is weak against bending shock. It can be used at high temperature of. 40~275℃ It is good for special lighting (traffic mark, museum lighting, medical lighting, etc.)

There are 2 lighting types of optical fiber.


End light
  1. It receives light from one end of the optical fiber and outputs the light at the other end, and it is also called as dot lighting.
  2. End light optical fibers make shape desiring to display by giving many points in accordance with its inherent characteristics, and the distances between points shall be adjusted according to the diameter in order to acquire intended effect desiring to display. You may acquire variety of dffects according to processing method of light output part.



Side light
  1. It uses effect of light leaking from side of optical fiber, it can be used to display outer shape of a building, and to display shape on the wall side. It can directly replace neon lighting, and it can be installed underwater and at the places with a lot of humidity without any danger.
