"A city with beautiful nights attracts tourists."
Local governments across the country are continuing to create a "city with beautiful nights" to attract more tourists. It is decorated with colorful lights and music on waterfalls and bridges representing each region, making it a new tourism resource. In particular, the picturesque scenery posted on social media such as Facebook has been retweeted, making it a national attraction. In addition, local residents who are reluctant to go out due to covid-19 are also gaining popularity, enjoying wonderful landscapes and walks.
According to local governments such as North Gyeongsang Province on the 9th, Andong City recently resumed operation after maintenance of the Nakdong River Music Fountain and the Amsan Landscape Falls. The Nakdonggang River Music Fountain not only creates a fantastic atmosphere but also cools down the heat by combining a 20-meter-high water column and subtle and intense lighting that pour excitedly into the music. Operating hours are 8 p.m. on weekdays, 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. on weekends, and a fountain show will be held for 20 minutes to match various genres of music.
It also refurbished its night lights for Wolyeonggyo Bridge, the hottest hot place in Andong. The Woryeonggyo Bridge lighting is projected golden on the surface of the Nakdonggang River as if the moonlight was reflected in the water, creating a warm image and a comfortable yet luxurious atmosphere. Wolyeonggyo Bridge (387 meters long), the longest wooden bridge in Korea, is famous as an untact tourist destination during the covid-19 era.
Cheorwon County, Gangwon Province, recently installed night lights at Sambuyeon Falls, a major tourist destination. The county expects the installation of night lights at Sambuyeon Falls to be a healing attraction for residents and tourists as it allows them to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the waterfall 24 hours a day throughout the year. Sambuyeon Falls is one of the nine scenic views of Cheorwon on Yongbongsan Mountain in Sincheolwon-ri, Cheorwon-gun, and is a must-visit destination for tourists visiting Cheorwon.
Dangjin City, South Chungcheong Province, has also been receiving positive responses by installing landscape lighting facilities at Sapgyo Lake Sea Park, a representative tourist destination in the region, in February. Optical fiber has been installed in the existing sailboat model sculpture symbolizing Dangjin to create vivid and colorful night views.
Tongyeong City, South Gyeongsang Province, has also completed a night view lighting project at Bongam Beach this year. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism spent 450 million won, including state funds, to install subtle lights on the pine forest trail at Bongam Beach and statues of Admiral Yi Sun-shin.
Siheung City, Gyeonggi Province, will spend some 450 million won to install nightscape lighting in Oido Island within this year. The city plans to install nightscape lights to make Oido, the city's representative tourist destination, a nightscape attraction where residents can heal. A city official said, "As tourists in the Corona era are increasingly interested in safer outdoor and night tours, lights have been installed to properly enjoy the scenic beauty of major tourist spots in the region."
