Dangjin City has installed nightscape lights at Sapgyo Lake and Waemok Village tourist attractions to provide new attractions to citizens.
At the entrance of the Sapgyo Lake tourist attraction, sculptures containing dolphins swimming freely between the shining moon and the Milky Way were installed to brighten the entrance. In addition, a heart-shaped fiber-optic lighting sculpture was installed at the tourist site of Waemok Village to beautifully represent the scenery of sunrise and sunset.
Until now, there have been opinions from residents that local commercial districts are not active due to low time of stay, such as streetlights at night and tourists do not stay until night due to lack of attractions.
Considering the fact that night view lighting facilities using optical fiber are being actively installed in tourist attractions and parks, the city has invested 150 million won to complete the installation of night view lighting facilities.
"The optical fiber used for night view lighting has the advantage of being easy to maintain due to its small particles of light and low impact on the surrounding ecosystem and low power consumption," a city official said. "We expect subtle lights to keep tourists' steps."
In addition, Dangjin City is currently spending about 500 million won on construction of night lighting facilities in the Sea Park of Sapgyo Lake Tourist Site, and plans to complete all projects in October.
