Sep. 2019 [Electrical News] 28 Years of Optical Fiber...It is also loo…

Established in 1991, Eternity Tech (CEO Lee Young-kyu, photo) is a company that has been out of business for 28 years in South Korea's optical fiber lighting sector.

Optical fiber is a material that is made from glass fiber that has different density and gradient inside and outside and is made so that first half of fiber is done without loss of light. Because there is no electrical hazard such as short circuit and discharge due to only light transmission, it is currently receiving attention as a material for lighting as it is not affected by surrounding environment such as temperature and humidity.

Eternity Tech is a company specialized in the field of landscape lighting, even in the field of optical fiber lighting. Even when fiber optics were first introduced in South Korea, they were limited to craftwork and interior design. However, Lee Young-kyu, CEO of Yeongju Tech, has started working in the field of landscape lighting since the late 2000s, paying attention to the stability of optical fiber and the diversity of light expression.

"Because of product characteristics, fiber is easy to maintain and has high safety when installed outdoors," CEO Lee said. "Because aesthetic value is valued in the field of landscape lighting, chances are high that it will be commercialized."

In fact, demands for optical fiber lights are increasing greatly at the center of government offices as they are used inside and outside buildings such as floor blocks, walls, signs, and others. Currently, 90 percent of its sales are filled with construction work to place orders for government offices, and it has a stable performance of around 3 billion won every year.

Such achievements were backed by the company's unique research and development efforts. Even before fiber optic lights were established, CEO Lee continued to invest in developing materials and designs and applying for patents. As a result, Yeongsang Tech currently holds a total of 12 patents, including a road guide system inside the movie theater, a wooden fiber bench using fiber optic fiber, and a wide range of lights. All patents are independent technologies owned only by the company, which is said to be the foundation for the industry's No. 1 ranking.

"We have a line-up of products that can respond to variety of environmental conditions and demands through continuous development of materials and designs." said CEO Lee.
